Hi Niner,
"I just wanted to let you guys know that the RIP 9 is about the best pedaling and handling bike I've ridden. Since 1951 I've owned and ridden over 25 bikes and riding the Niner RIP is the most fun I've had since I was 6 years old. I own a Moots, Turners, Edges, Salsa's and in the past have owned Bontrager's, IF, and Santa Cruz's among others. The RIP 9 exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Great Design!
Having spent my entire working career in "High Tech" Product Design in the Silicon Valley, Engineering and Management I have an acute eye for what works and what doesn't. You guys have nailed it!"
All the best,
Dave Burris
P.S. Love the glow in the dark paint job.

"I finally finished my RIP 9 build and got a chance to ride it today. My 29er experience has been from a SS standpoint and I loved it so much my Nomad got used less and less. Going to the 26er after riding the 29er I never felt "at home" on it for lack of a better description. I've previously owned a Ti Seven SS, Ellsworth Truth, Outland VPP DH-the original virtual pivot point design. I've been riding for about 10 years and am a serious clyde-6ft 255lbs-yeah, I know, SS???? I ride mostly rough cross country with almost everything going up or down-SoCal stuff. Anyway, I like to think that I have a good feeling of what feels right and wrong in a bike and so far have never been 100% pleased although I've had some wonderful bikes.
This RIP 9 though is the closest I've come to MTB perfection. It is nimble and balanced with a very stable feel to it. The geometry is perfect for me and I instantly felt at home. I rode a local trail that is a bit of everything-single track, fire road, technical up's and down's with a few stand up only stretches. I ride this trail a lot so I know how my bikes have all reacted in the past. The first thing I noticed was when standing to climb the rear end feels like a soft tail-it isn't hard tail firm but just enough give to make climbing a FS a joy again. It is better than the Nomad by quite a bit. The tires never slipped and I'm using the terrible WTB Exi in the rear. I was so stoked about how it climbed I can't express in words. The RIP 9 also shines on the downhills where the longer sweeping turns felt so smooth and stable-I'm sure this is going to lead me into trouble soon. The steep downhill sections were a dream, like others have said this bike is made right and loves to go downhill. All in all, I am VERY impressed and my hat's off to the guys at Niner for this frame. I hope this helps anyone who is on the fence and likes to ride similar trails."
